Sinusitis and Bacterial Infections
Sinusitis is an inflammation of the sinuses, which are air-filled cavities in the skull. The sinuses can become blocked and filled with fluid, leading to a buildup of bacteria that can cause infection. Bacterial infections are a common cause of sinusitis, especially if the inflammation is not treated promptly. Sinusitis can cause a runny nose, headache, postnasal drip, and facial pain. Treatment often includes antibiotics to kill the bacteria and reduce symptoms. Early diagnosis and treatment can help improve quality of life, reduce the risk of serious complications, and reduce the need for more intensive treatment.
