Saline Nasal Irrigation
Saline nasal irrigation is a medical procedure used to cleanse the nose of mucus and debris. It involves using a saline (salt + water) solution to flush and rinse out the nasal passages. This can be done with devices such as a neti pot or a bulb syringe, or with store-bought saline nasal sprays. The procedure is beneficial for a variety of nasal and sinus conditions, including allergies, colds, sinus infections, and post-nasal drip. It can reduce congestion, act as a decongestant, and reduce inflammation, helping to alleviate breathing problems. Saline nasal irrigation can also help to flush out irritants, allergens, and bacteria from the nasal passages. Furthermore, regular saline nasal irrigation can help to reduce the recurrence of sinus infections and symptoms of chronic sinusitis.
