Rhinitis

Rhinitis is an inflammation of the inner lining of the nose, which often causes symptoms such as a runny nose, sneezing, congestion and sometimes facial pain. It is most commonly caused by an allergic reaction, but can also be caused by an infection, exposure to irritants, or hormonal changes. Rhinitis can have a significant impact on a person’s quality of life and can lead to sleep disruption, fatigue, and school or work performance issues. Treatments for rhinitis may include avoiding triggers, over-the-counter or prescription medications, and allergy shots. Even with treatment, it is important to take steps to reduce exposure to triggers or irritants to prevent future episodes.
