Eosinophils

Eosinophils are a type of white blood cell that plays an important role in fighting infection and allergies. They are part of the immune system and release chemicals that help the body to fight infection, as well as help to regulate inflammation. The presence of too many or too few eosinophils in the body can indicate a health condition. Eosinophils are often used as a diagnostic tool in order to determine the presence of certain medical conditions, such as asthma, allergies, inflammatory bowel disease, and some types of cancer. Treatments for these conditions may also focus on reducing the amount of eosinophils present in the body.
