Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis

Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis (ABPA) is a type of lung disease caused by an allergic reaction to the fungus Aspergillus. Symptoms of ABPA usually include difficulty breathing, wheezing, chest tightness and coughing up mucous. ABPA can lead to lung damage if left untreated, however, it can be successfully treated with medications to reduce the severity of symptoms and decrease the progression of the disease. Early diagnosis and treatment of ABPA can help prevent more severe lung damage and improve the overall quality of life for affected individuals.
