Retinal Anomalies in Schizophrenia
Retinal anomalies in schizophrenia are a group of irregularities in the structure and/or function of the light-sensitive tissue in the eye that are associated with schizophrenia, a severe mental disorder. These anomalies can be detected with specialized eye tests and imaging techniques. They are believed to represent a risk factor for this disorder and could potentially provide insight into its underlying pathology. Furthermore, retinal anomalies may be used as a diagnostic tool, which could lead to more effective management of this condition. By studying these anomalies, researchers are also learning more about the role of the eye in mental health, which could lead to new treatments.
