Residual Schizophrenia
Residual Schizophrenia is a form of mental illness which is characterized by persisting symptoms that were once part of another mental disorder. This can include affective flattening (minimized emotional expressions), alogia (reduced speech), avolition (an inability to initiate or persist in goal-directed activities), and anhedonia (difficulty in feeling pleasure). Residual Schizophrenia is a chronic, long-term condition that can be challenging to treat and often requires lifelong management. Treatments include antipsychotic medications, psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and support groups. Prognosis can vary greatly, depending on the individual and the course of their illness. Early detection and treatment can help improve outcomes for those with residual Schizophrenia.
