Negative Symptoms

in schizophrenia Negative symptoms in schizophrenia refer to a cluster of mental health issues that can include reduced motivation, lack of emotion, lack of pleasure, diminished social interaction, difficulty thinking, and difficulty speaking. These symptoms are associated with heightened risk of poverty, unemployment and other social issues, and can significantly reduce quality of life. Early diagnosis and treatment are important in order to prevent long-term disability. Treatment usually involves medication, psychotherapy, and lifestyle changes.
