Mental Health Mood Disorders
Mood disorders involve persistent changes in a person’s mood that can cause significant distress and impairment in functioning. Examples of mood disorders include major depressive disorder, persistent depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and seasonal affective disorder. Mental health mood disorders can cause a range of symptoms, such as low energy, apathy, changes in appetite and sleep, difficulty focusing, and loss of interest in activities. Treatment often involves long-term psychotherapy and medication. Recognizing the signs of a mood disorder, seeking help, and engaging in treatment can improve quality of life, enable individuals to reach their goals, and build healthy relationships.
