False Memories

False memories are an interesting, yet largely misunderstood phenomenon in which individuals recall events or experiences that never happened. It is a form of memory distortion which can have significant implications on a person's life. False memories can arise in many different contexts, such as through eyewitness testimony, hypnosis, or simply misremembering an event. Research has shown that false memories can have significant psychological effects, leading to a distorted perception of reality, as well as feelings of guilt and trauma. In addition, false memories can be used in therapeutic settings to help people overcome trauma and negative feelings.
