Yellow Fever Virus
The Yellow Fever Virus is a single-stranded RNA virus of the Flavivirus genus. It is spread by infected mosquitoes and is capable of causing potentially severe disease, even death, in humans. Symptoms include fever, jaundice, and abdominal pain. An effective vaccine is available, and it has been used extensively to prevent and control outbreaks. The virus has been used in the development of a number of laboratory tests, including serological and molecular tests for diagnosis, as well as for research into viral genetics and immunity.
