Tracheostomy
A tracheostomy is a medical procedure in which a surgical opening is made in the neck in order to allow air to enter into the lungs directly. It is indicated for people with difficulty breathing due to conditions affecting the throat, such as laryngeal cancer, tracheal stenosis, or a blocked airway. A tracheostomy tube is inserted through the opening in order to provide a secure airway and to facilitate breathing. This procedure can improve the patient's quality of life by allowing them to speak and breathe more easily. It is a common form of treatment for patients with respiratory illness, as well as for certain surgical procedures.
