Rhinovirus
Rhinovirus is a highly contagious virus belonging to the family of Picornaviridae. It is primarily responsible for causing colds, hay fever, and other respiratory illnesses. This virus is easily spread via direct contact with an infected person, or through airborne droplets such as sneezing, coughing, or talking. It is also possible to spread the virus through contact with contaminated surfaces or objects. Because of its prevalence, rhinovirus is a significant cause of both short-term sickness and long-term health problems. Treatments focus on symptom relief, including decongestants, anti-inflammatory medications, and over-the-counter cold medications. Vaccination is not yet available for rhinovirus.
