Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Adjuncts
Pulmonary rehabilitation is a multidisciplinary approach for improving the health and well-being of people with chronic lung diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis and cystic fibrosis. It helps to improve symptoms such as breathlessness, exercise intolerance, dyspnea and energy levels, and to reduce hospital admissions, improve quality of life and decrease mortality. There are several components of pulmonary rehabilitation including education, physical activity, nutrition and psychological support. It also includes the use of adjuncts such as oxygen, exercise and breathing techniques, inhalers and respiratory medications. Overall, pulmonary rehabilitation provides an effective, evidence-based approach to improving the health and well-being of people with chronic lung diseases.
