Paramyxoviruses

Paramyxoviruses are a family of viruses that can cause illness in humans, including the common cold, mumps, and measles. They are single-stranded, enveloped RNA viruses that are responsible for a wide range of respiratory, neurological, and other systemic diseases. These viruses are highly contagious and can be spread through airborne particles, direct contact, and even through contact with contaminated objects. Paramyxoviruses are important to consider in any public health or infectious disease setting, as they are associated with numerous significant outbreaks. Vaccines have been developed to protect against them, and early diagnosis and treatment are key to minimizing their effects.
