Nasal Cavity

The nasal cavity is located within the nose and is a hollow space lined by mucous membranes. The primary functions of the nasal cavity are to filter, warm, and humidify the air that we breathe. It also plays an important role in our sense of smell by trapping airborne particles and passing them to the olfactory epithelium for detecting airborne odors. The nasal cavity also helps to regulate and maintain the correct volume of air passing through the upper airway. Additionally, it plays an important role in providing good air quality and preventing the inhalation of harmful bacteria or viruses.
