Legionellosis
Legionellosis, also known as Legionnaires' Disease, is a respiratory infection caused by the bacteria Legionella pneumophila. It is primarily contracted by inhaling small droplets of water containing the bacteria and is capable of causing severe pneumonia and other serious symptoms. Legionellosis can be prevented by proper maintenance and disinfection of water and air systems, such as those found in large buildings, cooling towers, and hot tubs. Treatment for legionellosis typically consists of antibiotics, such as azithromycin, levofloxacin, and minocycline.
