Isoniazid
Isoniazid (INH), also known as isonicotinylhydrazine, is an antibiotic used to treat and prevent tuberculosis (TB). It is considered a first-line drug for TB, meaning it is one of the most effective and inexpensive treatments for active and latent TB infection. As a prophylactic drug, it is used to prevent relapse of TB in those who were previously infected, as well as to protect people at high risk of exposure to TB. Isoniazid is also used in combination with other drugs to treat drug-resistant forms of TB. It is available as a tablet and liquid, and must be taken regularly in order to be effective.
