Acinetobacter Baumannii

Acinetobacter baumannii is a Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium from the genus Acinetobacter, which can be found in soil, water, and human skin. It is a leading cause of healthcare-associated infections such as pneumonia, meningitis, bloodstream infections, and wound infections. It has become increasingly antibiotic-resistant, making it difficult to treat and creating a public health concern. To mitigate this, researchers have developed several methods for early detection and prevention of these infections. Additionally, A. baumannii has been used in bioremediation efforts because of its ability to degrade petroleum and other hydrocarbons. It has been studied extensively for its potential to produce biofuel as well as other bioproducts.
