Synchrotron Radiation
Synchrotron radiation is a form of electromagnetic radiation which is generated by charged particles moving at close to the speed of light, in curved paths around a magnetic field. It is of significant importance in research as it can provide a wide range of highly specialised applications in areas such as x-ray diffraction, microscopy, and spectroscopy. Synchrotron radiation has the potential to enable scientists to observe and understand the properties of tiny particles in ways that were not previously possible. In addition to its use in scientific research, synchrotron radiation is also harnessed in a variety of industrial processes and has proved particularly useful in materials science, chemistry and biology. It is also used in medical and industrial imaging as well as in a range of treatments and therapies.
