Radioprotection
Radioprotection is the practice of mitigating hazardous effects of radiation exposure by using protective materials and techniques. It is important in the healthcare and nuclear industries. In healthcare, it is used during X-ray procedures, to reduce the risk of radiation harm to patients. In the nuclear industry, it is used to protect personnel and the environment from radiation during the handling, transport, and storage of nuclear materials. The strategy of radioprotection also allows for the safe and responsible use of radiation for medical treatments, as well as research.
