Radiobiology

Radiobiology is the branch of biology that deals with the action of ionizing radiation on living organisms. This research field has become increasingly important as radiation therapy, a medical procedure used to treat cancer, has become widespread. It also helps to understand the effects of radiation exposure from sources such as X-ray machines, nuclear power plants, and natural background radiation. Radiobiology helps to quantify the risks from radiation and can be used to develop protective measures to minimize any potential health risks, as well as improve radiation therapy treatments for cancer.
