Radiation Oncology
Radiation Oncology is a medical specialty that uses radiation to treat cancer and other diseases. It is a highly precise, targeted treatment that uses carefully focused beams of radiation to destroy malignant cells and minimize damage to nearby healthy tissue. Radiation Oncology is used to treat a variety of cancer types, including prostate, breast, lung, thyroid, and head and neck cancer. It can also be used to treat conditions such as tumors, lymphoma, and benign (noncancerous) tumors. Patients who undergo Radiation Oncology may receive treatments such as Cyberknife, Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Tomotherapy, and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT). Radiation Oncology is a critical tool in treating cancer and has contributed to improved outcomes and quality of life for patients.
