Nuclear Decay
Nuclear decay is the spontaneous breakdown of an atomic nucleus, which results in the emission of radiation and particles, such as alpha and beta particles, or gamma rays. This process occurs naturally in some elements, but can also be induced by bombarding the nucleus with a neutron. Nuclear decay is a crucial factor in the formation and evolution of the universe, and is used in various scientific and technological applications. For example, it is commonly employed in the field of medicine for diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy. It is also used for nuclear power generation and for the detection of radiation in industrial, research, and medical settings.
