Classification of Muscles

Muscles are tissues specialized in providing movement to the body. They are classified into three types according to their location and mode of contraction within the body: skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscles. Skeletal muscles are responsible for voluntary movement and are found attached to the skeleton, while smooth and cardiac muscles are found in the walls of the internal organs and are responsible for the involuntary contraction of the organs. The classification of muscles is important for understanding their respective physiological functions, as well as for diagnosing, treating, and preventing muscular disorders.
