Psychophysiological Treatments
Psychophysiological treatments are evidence-based therapies that focus on the relationship between a person’s mental and physical processes. Through techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and biofeedback, practitioners strive to improve a person’s relationship and control over their physical and mental health. This can mean anything from an improvement in their breathing rates, to better regulation of emotions, to more efficient and adequate responses to stressful situations. Psychophysiological treatments can help to reduce stress and anxiety, and can also be used to treat a range of mental health disorders, including depression, insomnia, PTSD, and more. Ultimately, this type of treatment aims to improve a person’s overall physical and mental wellbeing.
