Psychophysiological Effects of Exercise
Exercise has many beneficial effects on the body, not only in terms of physical health, but also psychological and emotional health. Research has demonstrated that exercise can influence both the physical and emotional states of an individual. Physiological effects of exercise involve changes in heart rate, respiration, endocrine functioning and metabolism. Exercise also affects psychological states, such as stress, mood, and even memory. The physiological effects of exercise can be beneficial in treating mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress disorder. Additionally, regular physical activity can reduce the risk of chronic health conditions and aid in weight loss. Exercise is an important component of health and overall wellbeing, and its psychophysiological impacts should not be overlooked.
