Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder that can affect how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. It is characterized by abnormal thought processes, abnormal behaviors, and abnormal emotions. Symptoms of schizophrenia can include hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thinking and speech, and negative symptoms such as anhedonia and apathy. Without treatment, those with schizophrenia experience difficulty functioning and may be at an increased risk for suicide and other mental health issues. Treatment for schizophrenia usually involves a combination of medication, therapy, and lifestyle changes, including education, vocational training, and support systems. With appropriate treatment, those with schizophrenia can live full and productive lives.
