Reptile Genomics
Reptile genomics is the application of genomic science to the study of reptiles, such as snakes, lizards, and turtles. By studying the structure and function of reptile genomes, researchers can gain insight into the evolution of reptiles and gain a better understanding of the biology, behavior, and health of living species. With advancements in technology, researchers are now able to sequence the entire genome of reptiles for the purpose of research and conservation. These sequences provide insight into species diversity, population genetics, and disease susceptibility, among other areas. They also help scientists better understand the ecology of reptiles and thus, better inform conservation efforts.
