Phylogenetics
Phylogenetics is the study of evolutionary relationships among groups of organisms. It uses data from fossil records, genetics, and other observations to map out how species are related. Phylogenetics techniques can help scientists understand how different species adapted to their environment and how living species are related to their ancestors and each other. By understanding these relationships, researchers can make predictions and develop strategies to protect endangered species. Phylogenetics also helps biologists identify new species and discover the origins of existing life forms. Additionally, the techniques of phylogenetics are used in medicine to trace the transmission of diseases, as well as to target treatments to particular individuals.
