Cloning and Expression
vectors Cloning and expression vectors are special molecules used as tools to study and manipulate DNA in the laboratory. They are composed of various genetic elements which allow scientists to insert a gene of interest into the vector, thereby enabling the expression of the gene in the laboratory. Their importance lies in the fact that they allow for the creation of proteins which would otherwise not be produced through the normal course of a cell's development. In addition to the creation of proteins, cloning and expression vectors are also used for the identification of gene sequences and for gene therapy applications. They provide an invaluable resource for research and have been instrumental in the advancement of genomics and biotechnology.
