Transect Surveys
Transect surveys are a type of ecological surveys used to obtain quantitative data about a given area. They involve the collection of data along systematically laid out lines of a certain width, which is known as a transect. This data can include vegetation, fauna, and other features of an ecosystem. Transect surveys can be used to monitor changes in the composition of an area over time, and to compare the biodiversity across different habitats. They are also a useful way to determine the distribution and abundance of species, and to map the boundaries of ecosystems such as forests and wetlands. Additionally, they can be used to identify areas of conservation importance, and can inform the development of management plans for protected areas.
