Tarsiiformes

Tarsiiformes are an order of primates found in Southeast Asia. They are notable for their wide, flat faces and wide-set eyes, giving them a tarsier-like appearance. They are considered to be the most primitive living primates and are among the few groups that are able to move their eyes independently of each other. This, combined with their unique vision, provides them with a wide range of vision and the ability to spot their prey from a distance. In addition, they have excellent hearing, allowing them to detect their predators more quickly than other primates. This ability is further enhanced by their long hind legs, which enable them to leap up to five meters in a single bound. Tarsiiformes provide an important baseline for understanding the behaviors, adaptations, and evolutionary history of modern primates and are an important research topic for primate biologists.
