Pulvinar
The pulvinar is an area of the thalamus, a central part of the brain, which is responsible for visually processing incoming visual information. It is associated with a range of higher order functions including attention, memory, and learning. Disruptions in the functioning of the pulvinar can lead to a range of cognitive and behavioral deficits, including inattention and deficits in executive function. It has also been implicated in a range of neurological conditions such as schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease. Its role in the visual system has been studied extensively in a range of animal models, and it is also important in the development of technology and artificial intelligence.
