Primate Phylogeny
Primate phylogeny is the study of the evolutionary relationships between the various living species of primates. It is an important field of research because it can provide insight into primate evolution, the development of primate behaviors and the physical and mental adaptations that have allowed primates to survive in their respective habitats. Primate phylogeny is also significant for determining the relationships between extinct primates and modern-day primates, which is key for understanding the evolutionary history of both. Furthermore, primate phylogeny is being used to inform conservation efforts, to study the transmission of diseases among primates, and to inform medical research.
