Primate Endocrinology

Primate endocrinology is the scientific study of the endocrine (hormonal) systems of primates: humans, apes, monkeys, and prosimians. It focuses on understanding and exploring the roles of individual hormones and their interactions in regulating physiological processes. Primate endocrinology has wide-reaching implications for human health, from understanding the etiology of diseases to developing novel, effective treatments. It has been used to study the effects of a variety of conditions, from diabetes to cancer, as well as to help unravel the mysteries of diseases like Alzheimer’s. Research in primate endocrinology is also essential for gaining a better understanding of the reproductive systems of humans and other primates and for developing new methods of fertility control.
