Primate Aging and Senescence
Primate aging and senescence is an important area of ??research in biology, as it relates to the potential effects of aging on health and life expectancy in humans. Primates are the closest evolutionary relatives to humans, and understanding the aging process in primates can provide insight into how humans age and how to treat age-related disorders. Primate aging has been studied in great detail, with research focusing on topics such as oxidative stress, telomere length, neural plasticity, mitochondrial dysfunction, and declines in physical, cognitive, and immunological function. The results of this research can help to inform interventions to reduce age-associated decline and improve quality of life in aging humans.
