Pitheciidae
Pitheciidae, also known as titis, are a family of primates consisting of 32 species that can be found in South America and the Caribbean. They are generally arboreal, meaning they live mainly in trees, and most species live in family groups that consist of a single male, multiple females and their young. Pitheciidae are important in the local ecosystems due to their role as important seed-dispersers. They also serve as important study subjects for research in genetics, behavior, ecology, and evolution. As such, they have been heavily researched and studied, leading to a better understanding of primate traits and adaptations. Additionally, their distinct and colorful appearances have made them popular symbols of conservation and biodiversity.
