Homologies

Homologies are the similarities in physical and biochemicals characteristics between two or more species or populations of organisms or molecules. Homologies help us to scientificly understand the relationship between different species or molecules and the evolutionary processes that shaped them. For example, looking at the pattern of homology between humans and other mammals can help us to understand our shared evolutionary history. The analysis of homologies is also used to study the genetic and morphological similarities between diseases, and to develop new medical treatments. Finally, homologies are often used in biotechnology research to create new drugs, or to modify existing ones, as well as being used to improve the efficiency of crop production.
