Cynomolgus Monkeys

Cynomolgus monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) are a species of Old World monkeys commonly found in South and Southeast Asia. They are important to biomedical research due to their similarity to humans in many physiological, behavioral, and genetic characteristics, making them a valuable model species for studies of human diseases. Cynomolgus monkeys are used in laboratory studies of infectious diseases, cancer, aging, reproductive and cardiovascular health, drug development, behavior, and neuroscience, among other areas. They are also used in the production of antibodies, proteins, and other biologic materials for medical and veterinary applications. In addition, Cynomolgus monkeys are also kept as pets in some parts of the world.
