Colobinae

Colobinae is a subfamily of Old World monkeys, which have a smaller body size than other species of monkeys. Its members include the colobus and langur species, commonly seen in India, Africa, and Southeast Asia. Colobinae is significant due to its morphological and genetic differences from other monkey species, and its ability to adapt to different environments, such as forests and savannahs. This has enabled them to exploit different resources and habitats. They use distinctive foraging and feeding strategies, such as leaf stripping, which is especially beneficial for the species in areas with limited food resources. Colobinae is also important for its potential to provide insights into human evolution, as it is a close relative of humans.
