Chimpanzees

Chimpanzees are one of the closest living relatives to humans, with genetic similarities estimated to be 98.7% the same. Native to the tropical rainforests of Africa, chimps are of great significance to the scientific community due to the insights they provide into human evolution, behavior, and cognition. In addition, chimpanzees are widely used in medical research, including studies of infectious diseases and HIV/AIDS, as well as in developing treatments for a variety of illnesses. As a result, chimpanzees make a key contribution to the advancement of human health and well-being.
