Catarrhini
Catarrhini are a group of Old World monkeys that includes humans, apes, and other primates. They are distinguished from other primates by their prominent noses, narrow noses, and relatively large brain volume. Catarrhini species are found in Africa, Asia, and North and South America. Studies of their behavior, genetics, and evolutionary relationships have helped to elucidate the development of modern primates and humans. Catarrhini have also facilitated evolutionary research, conservation efforts, and animal welfare initiatives.
