Aotidae
Aotidae, also known as flying lemurs or colugos, are arboreal mammals found in Southeast Asia and the Philippines. They are the only living members of the family Aotidae. These animals have long bodies covered with large, thin, fur-covered wings and have tail membranes which they use to glide from tree to tree. They have no true wings, and their limbs are used for climbing, not flight. Aotids typically feed on fruit and foliage, using their large claws and teeth to break into fruit and leaves. Their gliding and climbing abilities make them well suited for life in the tropical rainforest canopy. Aotids are important to maintaining the balance of the forest ecosystem, as they disperse the seeds of the plants they consume, aiding in the growth of new plant species.
