Horticulture
Horticulture is a specialized branch of agriculture dedicated to the production of fruits, vegetables, flowers and ornamental plants. It is the study, practice and science of cultivating plants for food, pleasure and improved human health. Through effective soil management, water conservation, pest control and crop rotation, horticultural practices can help reduce land degradation, improve air and water quality, and restore and preserve natural ecosystems. Horticulture can also create sustainable economic opportunities for communities, by improving crop yields and providing employment. Horticultural products are a vital source of healthy and nutritious food, contributing to the well-being of humans, as well as providing essential feedstocks for industry.
