Geo Referencing
Geo Referencing, also referred to as Geospatial Referencing or Georeferencing, is an act of assigning geographic coordinates to digital images, including aerial and satellite imagery. This process allows for the precise positioning and navigation to any location on the earth, and is used in a variety of applications, including collecting and displaying spatial data (such as street maps, topographic data and satellite images) and displaying the position of objects in relation to the earth's surface. Its applications include cartography, urban planning, civil engineering, forestry and wildlife management and land use management. Geo Referencing is a key tool for precise spatial data and analysis and is used for a variety of tasks, from pinpointing exact locations for disaster relief operations to helping find precise locations for the installation of various types of infrastructure.
