Polymerase Chain Reaction

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is a powerful tool used in molecular biology to amplify or make many copies of a specific sequence of DNA. It is a simple and efficient technique used to quickly make millions of copies of a specific target DNA segment from a complex mixture of DNA molecules. PCR is widely used in research and clinical applications such as disease diagnosis, gene expression analysis and the detection of food-borne pathogens. It is also used in forensics to identify criminals and in the biotechnology industry for the production of therapeutic proteins. Overall, PCR is a highly precise and efficient technique that has revolutionized molecular biology and related biomedical research and applications.
