Plastics Engineering

Plastics engineering is the practice of designing and manufacturing products out of plastic materials. Plastics engineering is an interdisciplinary field, combining expertise from a variety of different scientific and engineering disciplines, such as chemistry, physics, engineering, materials science, and mathematics. It is a vitally important area of engineering, as plastics are widely used in a variety of industries, including automotive, electronics, medical, and construction. By manipulating the properties of plastics, engineers are able to improve the performance and reliability of products, while also reducing costs. Plastics engineering is key to the development of innovative materials, processes, and products, and will continue to play a vital role in the advancement of modern technologies.
