Organometallic Compounds

Organometallic compounds are molecules that contain both carbon and metal atoms. They have a wide range of applications in many areas, including catalysis, synthetic organic chemistry, and materials science. In catalysis, organometallic compounds are used to speed up or control chemical reactions. They are used as precursors for many materials, such as polymers, and as catalysts for the production of specialty chemicals. In synthetic organic chemistry, organometallic compounds are frequently employed as reagents, providing both reactivity and selectivity. Finally, organometallic compounds are often used to functionalize materials, making them more reactive and enhancing their properties.
