Molecular Size
Molecular size is a measure of the mass of a molecule or compound expressed as the sum of the atomic masses of its constituent atoms. Its importance lies in its ability to provide an insight into the physical and chemical properties of a substance. For example, the molecular size of a molecule affects its solubility, boiling and melting points, reactivity, and its interaction with other molecules. Additionally, molecular size is a key factor in drug design, as a drug’s effectiveness is closely linked to its size. Knowing the molecular size is therefore important in developing effective therapeutic treatments.
